Kinect Adaper For XBox One S and One X: Four Things You Should Know
Many XBox customers, I feel, are now dissatisfied with Microsoft's recent decision to stop producing the Kinect Adapter for the XBOX OneS / OneX. Although the Kinect Adapter is advertised on Microsoft's official website, the pricing is extremely exorbitant. Here are FOUR things to know about Kinect Adapters for people who are unfamiliar with them and want to find one for their XBox.
1. Why We Need Kinect Adapter
You'll need an Xbox Kinect Adapter to use your existing Xbox One Kinect Sensor with a new Xbox One S or Xbox One X system. The Xbox One Kinect Sensor can be connected to the Xbox One S or Xbox One X console with this adaptor. It's also worth noting that the adapter is required to connect Kinect to PCs running Windows 10. Manufacturing of the Kinect Sensor and Kinect Adapter halted in November 2017. The Kinect Adapter, a USB attachment necessary to connect the Xbox One Kinect sensor to an Xbox One S, Xbox One X, or Windows device, was discontinued by Microsoft in October.
2. How To Set Up Kinect Adapter
The methods for using the Kinect Adapter with an XBox One S or XBox One X console are outlined below.
Step1: Install the adaptor.
1. Connect the wall plug to the power source.
2. Connect the power supply's circular connector to the Kinect hub.
3. Connect the Kinect sensor cable to the Kinect hub using the Kinect connector.
4. Plug the USB cable into the Kinect hub that came with it. The adapter is now ready to be connected to your console.
Step 2: Connect the Kinect Adapter to the XBox One S or X console
1. Plug the USB 3.0 cable into the console's left USB port, which is labeled "Kinect." Your Kinect sensor is now connected to your console and ready to use.
2. Make sure your Kinect sensor and Kinect Adapter aren't sitting directly on top of your console for best results.
3. Open the Guide on your console and select System.
4. Select All Settings > Kinect & Devices from the drop-down menu.
5. Select Kinect and set up your sensor according to the instructions.
3. What if the Kinect Sensor is not responding
When you try to use the Kinect Adapter, your Kinect sensor is not responsive or is turned off for a variety of reasons. To solve the problem, try the following suggestions:
-
In the console settings, make sure the Kinect sensor is turned on. Select System > All Settings > Kinect & Devices > Kinect from the drop-down menu.
-
Reset your console's power. The connection between the sensor and the console may need to be reset on occasion. To do so, hard boot the console by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds until it shuts down. Disconnect the console's power source and wait one minute before reconnecting and restarting it.
-
Check the sensor and adapter connections to ensure that each connector is securely attached.
-
Make sure the Kinect sensor and adapter aren't sitting directly on the console.
-
The adapter must be powered to pass Kinect information to the console. Check the power supply of the adapter and make sure that the LED is lit. If you still have power issues after checking the power supply, reset the Kinect Adapter power supply by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
4. Kinect is more than games
Kinect's voice commands have proven to be one of the most popular features. It gives a cleaner and faster way to switch between different components of the OS. Cortana, Microsoft's digital speech assistant from its PC and phone ventures, is included on the console. It has more features, more flexibility, and is similar to regular voice commands in terms of basic functioning.
Furthermore, the Kinect Adapter allows the device to be directly linked to a Windows PC for usage with Microsoft's official software development kit. You can create more natural, personal, and engaging experiences.
